A Journey of Strength, Resilience, & Empowerment.

Imagine a woman who defies all odds and rises above every challenge that life throws her way. Cindy Perez is that woman. A business owner, single mother and a student at Sacramento State University, where she studies sociology and is pursuing her master's degree to become a therapist or to be able to obtain her clinician license.

Cindy is the owner of Vida Salon, where she enhances the beauty of women through her beautiful work while empowering these women from within with her positive energy and genuine support. Her story is one that inspires us to reach our full potential and reminds us that no matter how hard life gets, we can find a reason to smile and be grateful.

As I sit down with Cindy in her cozy salon, the walls adorned with paintings and plants that exude positivity, I can't help but be captivated by her infectious peaceful energy. She radiates confidence and resilience, a true testament to the strength of a woman who has overcome countless obstacles. "Being strong and providing for my kids was my only option," Cindy says. "I knew that I had to create a better life for them, and that's what kept me going."

Cindy's journey to becoming a business owner and student was far from easy. As a single mother, she faced numerous challenges and setbacks. But instead of allowing them to define her, Cindy used them as fuel to propel herself forward. She recalls the moment she took over her now business “Vida Salon”, a place where women could not only enhance their outer beauty but also find a safe space to empower themselves and support one another. "I wanted to create a salon that went beyond just hair and makeup," she explains. "I wanted it to be a place where women could come and feel uplifted, inspired, and Bonitas."

And that's exactly what she is achieving. Vida Salon is becoming a sanctuary for women from all walks of life. Cindy's genuine support and encouragement is creating a community of strong, empowered women who lift each other up.

Cindy's journey as a student at Sacramento State University is equally inspiring. Despite the demands of being a business owner and a mother, she made the decision to pursue a degree in sociology. "My clients tell me everything, they feel comfortable sharing their stories with me. It is in my nature to help and having a degree will allow me to be better prepared to give advice and get paid for it; I can better understand them and find ways to make a positive impact," she shares. "Education has always been important to me, and I wanted to show my children that no matter what obstacles they face, they can still achieve their dreams."

Life hasn't always been smooth sailing for Cindy. She has faced her fair share of hardships, but she has always found a way to rise above them. When asked how she stays positive, she smiles and says, "I focus on the positives, no matter how small they may seem. Gratitude is what keeps me going."

She recounts a particularly challenging time in her life when she felt overwhelmed and defeated. "I had hit rock bottom," she admits. "But then I realized that I still had so much to be grateful for. I had my children, my health, and the opportunity to create a better future. That's when I decided to shift my mindset and focus on the blessings in my life."

Through her journey, Cindy has learned the power of resilience and the importance of self-care. She emphasizes the need to take care of oneself, both physically and mentally. "You can't pour from an empty cup," she says. "Taking care of yourself is not selfish; it's necessary. When you prioritize self-care, you become a better mother, business owner, and student."

One of the most remarkable aspects of Cindy's story is her unwavering commitment to empowering other women. She believes that when we support one another, incredible things happen. "Do good and good things will come back to you” she says. Cindy actively seeks opportunities to empower women in her community. Whether it's through accommodating her schedule so her clients can be taken care of, hosting paint nights in her shop to support small businesses, or simply offering a listening ear, she is always there to support and uplift others. "I want every woman who walks through the doors of Vida Salon to feel seen, heard, and loved," she says passionately.

Her impact extends beyond the salon. Through her studies in sociology, Cindy hopes to bring about systemic change that will empower women on a larger scale. She dreams of a world where every woman has access to therapy, resources, and opportunities to thrive.

Cindy Perez is a true embodiment of strength, resilience, and empowerment. Her journey as a business owner, single mother, and student is a testament to the power of perseverance and gratitude. Through her genuine support and unwavering belief in the potential of women, she has created a ripple effect of empowerment that extends far beyond the walls of Vida Salon.

As our conversation comes to an end, Cindy leaves me with a final piece of wisdom: "No matter how hard life gets, always remember to find a reason to smile and be grateful. Focus on the positives, and life will start having meaning again."

And with those words, I leave Vida Salon feeling inspired, uplifted, and grateful for the opportunity to share Cindy's empowering story with the world.
